Blackberry and Amazon Enter Strategic Agreement to Develop Intelligent Vehicle Data Platform
Blackberry has announced a multi-year, global agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to develop and market its intelligent vehicle data platform, IVY. Blackberry IVY will provide automakers with a secure, reliable and scalable cloud-connected software platform that will provide access to an array of vehicle data through machine learning and artificial intelligence, enabling advanced vehicle features.
The IVY platform will enable automakers to collect vehicle sensor data and use it to create insights and intelligence. This data will be used to create a range of features such as predictive maintenance, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), in-car personalization, and enhanced safety.
“Blackberry IVY brings an entirely new level of innovation to the automotive industry,” said John Chen, Executive Chairman and CEO, Blackberry. “We have built a solid reputation in the security and safety of our software, and we are now extending this expertise to the automotive industry, where it is critical.”
Under the agreement, AWS will provide Blackberry with global-scale compute and storage infrastructure, as well as access to its machine learning and data analytics services. This will enable Blackberry IVY to process large amounts of data quickly and deliver insights to automakers in real-time.
“The intersection of transportation and technology has brought incredible innovation to the automotive industry, but managing the data generated by vehicles has become a challenge for automakers,” said Andy Jassy, CEO of AWS. “Blackberry IVY solves this challenge with an intelligent, secure, and scalable platform that leverages AWS`s proven capabilities in machine learning and data analytics.”
The Blackberry IVY platform will also enable automakers to accelerate the development of connected and autonomous vehicle capabilities. Blackberry IVY is built on the principles of safety and security, which are critical for the development of autonomous vehicles. The platform will enable automakers to securely and reliably connect to the cloud and provide drivers with a personalized and immersive in-car experience.
In conclusion, the Blackberry and AWS agreement represents a significant step forward for the automotive industry, enabling automakers to connect their vehicles securely and access vehicle data to create advanced features for drivers. Blackberry IVY will enable automakers to accelerate the development of connected and autonomous vehicle capabilities while ensuring the safety and security of their customers.
